Bloom wins again at Berlin.

Jeff Bloom continued his dominance under threatening skies at Mike Blackmer's Berlin Raceway last night. Nineteen Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Sprinters took to the half mile in Marne despite drops of rain on the facility to the approval of not only the large crowd of fans, but also the drivers of the "Worlds Fastest Short Track Cars",as each driver gave the thumbs up to Race Director Jerry Carmen before we would even consider running the feature.
Curt Shumaker driving Jim Browns #55 sprinter started on the pole with Jim Swain on his outside shoulder. Bloom coming from the fifth starting spot, Kyle Flint from the sixth position, Jeff Banyas, Chad Goff, Jason Blonde, and fast qualifier, Derek Snyder( three out of the last four times at Berlin he has done this), took chase. Troy Underwood had some problems early on as did Bill Tyler and Snyder taking them out of the race. Shumaker held off the field until Bloom and Blonde got around him in traffic. Try as he may, Curt's tires started to fade but was holding on to third with Flint, Ryan Litt, Dorman Snyder, and Sondi Eden all working their way through the field. On lap twenty two with Bloom and Blonde changing leads no less than three times, reports say that something possibly let go on Shumakers car in turn three and he spun, with everything happening so fast Flint found himself gathered up in the accident. Litt" threaded the needle" and was able to get through, but unfortunately Blonde who was leading the race did not damaging the Dowker Engine special as to where he couldn't continue.Bloom took the lead to the wire with Goff right on his bumper followed by Banyas, Litt, Eden, Dorman Snyder, Swain Ryan Davis, Mike Astrauskas, and Teddy Albert's finishing out the top ten. This is Blooms third win in four shows at Berlin. Curt Shumaker was taken to the hospital with some reported  foot pain after the turn three accident. A report will be forthcoming on his condition.
Heat winners were Bill Tyler in the Amsoil 1st in Synthetics, Tom and Jennifer Worth the distributors race, Ryan Litt won the Coldwave Snoware heat, and Sondi Eden taking the checker in the Oliver Racing parts heat.  » Read More
