An Inside Look - Previewing Toledo and M-40

The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS) continues its busy month of June with events at Toledo (OH) Speedway on Friday, June 13 in the All American Coach/Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Fastest Short Track Show in the World and M-40 (MI) Speedway on Saturday, June 14.

Most Recent Series Event - Saturday, June 7 - Kalamazoo Speedway:
Jo Jo Helberg won the 40-lap feature at Kalamazoo (MI) Speedway in the second event of the season. Helberg, who started in eighth position, passed Joe Swanson with 10 laps remaining and then drove to his second consecutive victory at the .375-mile oval. Following Helberg across the finish line was Swanson, who finished 1.414 seconds behind the race winner. Davey Hamilton Jr. earned his career best finish of third with early race leader Kevin Feeney and first-time starter David Byrne rounding out the top five.

Points Update:
2013 Series Runner-Up Joe Swanson is off to a strong start with two podium finishes including a runner-up performance at Kalamazoo (MI) Speedway on June 7. He holds a single point advantage over five-time series champion Jason Blonde, who has two top-six finishes with a season best of second at Angola. Third is Davey Hamilton Jr. with Kevin Feeney and Mike Astraukas rounding out the top five.

News and Notes:
- Jo Jo Helberg became the second different winner in the opening two events. The victory is his fourth in series history.
- Helberg earned a $850 bonus from Jim Coffey & Son Plumbing & Heating, CMF, Inc. and Hamilton Trucking for posting the best qualifying lap at Kalamazoo. The quick lap for the California native was 10.530 seconds at 128.205 mph. He is the second driver in the last three events to lead qualifying and also earn the feature victory. Aaron Pierce also accomplished that tough task at Sandusky (OH) Speedway last September.
- Heat races at Kalamazoo were won by Kevin Feeney, Dustin Daggett and Jason Blonde.
- For the second consecutive event Davey Hamilton Jr. posted a career-best finish, this time it was a podium finish at Kalamazoo.
- Joe Swanson is the only driver to post podium finishes in the first two rounds of competition.
- Season debuts at Kalamazoo for David Byrne ended with an impressive fifth-place while Cody Gallogly put together a strong performance in eighth.
- Season-opener winner Jimmy McCune and fast timer Ryan Gillenwater will both return to action on Friday at Toledo.
- Defending Toledo winner Troy DeCaire will make his season debut with goals of winning his second consecutive event on the fast half-mile oval. He is also expected to race at M-40.
- Two-time Non-Wing Sprint Car winner in 2014 John Turnbull Jr. will make his AVBBSS debut at Toledo.
