CASSOPOLIS, Mich. (June 19, 2014) – The state-of-the-art Dixie (MI) Motor Speedway will re-open on Friday, June 27 after the completion of a grandstand project. The re-opening will feature the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS) and the Outlaw Super Late Models of the Main Event Racing Series (MERS) on one night of racing.
The AVBBSS will compete in their fifth event of the season and first of two stops at Dixie. In 2013, Mike Ling and Jo Jo Helberg earned the feature victories at the .400-mile oval.
Heading into the June 27 race, five-time champion series champion Jason Blonde leads the point standings after earning two runner-up finishes and three top fives in the initial four races. Second in the standings in 2010 series champion Kevin Feeney with rising star Davey Hamilton Jr. in third position. The remainder of the top five includes 2013 series runner-up Joe Swanson and veteran Mike Astraukas.
MERS has nearly 20 years of Outlaw Super Late Model History with Jeff Ganus the most recent series champion in 2013. Heading into action at Dixie, Ganus hold a slim eight point margin over Drew Charlson in the season standings. Veteran Harold Fair Jr. ranks third with Marcus Malccuit and long-time Outlaw and Template Late Model Star Scott Hantz rounding out the top five.
In addition to Winged Sprint Cars and Outlaw Super Late Models, the Vores Compact Traveling Series will be part of the racing program.
Racing is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27 and the track offers free camping. Admission for Adults is $25, Senior Citizens $22, Teens(13-17) $18, Child(6-12) $8 and 5 & under Free.
