Last Friday, The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper
Super Sprints invaded the Deleware Speedway for the first of three
trips into Canada this 2007 racing season. When we arrived Mother
Nature was letting us know that she was still around and in control
with some heavy rain coming down, but the clouds gave way and it was
decided to forgo time trails and run the United Trailer and Dowker
Engine heat races and the big 30 lap feature. The positions were
decided by points and that meant Jeff Bloom our current point leader
would start sixth in the heat race and on the roll of the dice, he
rolled a 10 for his starting position in the feature. In the United
Trailer heat race local favorite, Mike Ling, from Mt. Bridges, Ontario
came home victorious. In the Dowker Engine race it was Dorman Snyder in
the J&P Ariel Special from Union City, Michigan came home in the
number one position. As the eighteen sprints lined up for the feature,
Johnny Sherer in the Palatka Electric sprinter started on the pole with
Dorman Snyder on his outside shoulder, as the sprints took the green
flag, Sherer got a little sideways as the drivers headed into turn one,
he touched wheels with Snyder and ended up into the front stretch wall
with front and right side damage retiring him for the night. After a
complete restart, Snyder seemed untouchable building a twenty car gap
between he and the rest of the field. Bill Tyler in the Wellhoff
Concrete machine moved through traffic to get into the number two spot
where he gave Snyder all he wanted for the rest of the race. Snyder
crossed the finish line first followed by Tyler, Mike Ling coming from
the eleventh spot finished third, fourth went to Jeff Bloom, from
tenth, fifth to Jason Blonde, sixth Ryan Litt, seventh Dave Baumgartner,
eighth Bill Jacoby, nine to Chad Goff and tenth to Aaron Katz. The
restb of the finishers in order were Scott O'Conner, Troy Underwood,
John Hotchkiss, Matt Heath, Ike Beasley, Mike Katz, Brian Walsh, and
Johnny Sherer. The next stop for the AVBBSS was Auto City Speedway in
Mt. Morris,Michigan, Saturday night.
