Auto City Race results

A great crowd greeted The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Supersprints as they visited Joe Dewitt’s Auto City Speedway on Saturday the 14th. of June. Sixteen of the worlds fastest short track cars took the green flag for two laps of qualifying attempts. Fast time of the night went to the 07, BS&B Radiator, OTC SPX Tool, Huron Produce special of Ryan Litt(07) from Lyons Ontario, Canada with a 13.18 time. Second place was the “Iceman”, Ike Beasley(99) in the Robert Mucha Attorney-at- Law special with a 13.31, Jeff Bloom(26), took third at 13.37, Curt Shumaker(75), fourth 13.40, Jason Blonde(42), fifth at 13.42.

In the United Trailer heat race one, Bill Tyler(24) in the T&T Promotion owned sprinter, led flag to flag to take the race, Jason Blonde threatened early but had to settle for second, third went to Rookie of the year candidate, Derek Snyder(22), fourth Ryan Litt, fifth, Jeff Bloom, sixth, Kyle Flint(20k).

The Dowker Engine heat race number two saw the front row outside driver, Kevin Feeney(98f) in the Must See Racing, Cargomate, special take the lead on the drop of the green flag and never looked back to take the win. Second went to Tyler Underwood(4) in his first race with us this year, third Beasley(99), fourth , Jeffrey Banyas(07b), fifth Shumaker(75), sixth, Mike Astrauskas(3a).

The pits were alive with anticipation as we readied for the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper thirty lap feature. All sixteen answered the call with Jeffrey Banyas sitting on the pole with sixteen year old Kyle Flint on his outside shoulder as an eight was rolled for the invert. The second row brings Tyler Underwood and current point leader Jason Blonde, with Curt Shumaker and Jeff Bloom in the third row, Ike Beasley and Ryan Litt in the seven and eight starting spots. Banyas jumped out to the lead with Flint setting in second, Blonde third, Underwood fourth, Bloom fifth until lap thirteen, when Blonde got around the rookie Flint. On the lap, Flint spun, sending him to the rear. Banyas still lead with Blonde second, Bloom moved into the third spot, Beasley moved through the field into fourth, Underwood fifth, Shumaker sixth. Ryan Litt had to retire with a mechanical problem on lap twelve. Blonde pushed Banyas every lap with the rest of the field closely behind until they caught up to lapped traffic on lap twenty nine. Bart Compau our flagman, brought out the white flag with Banyas holding off the charging Blonde into turn one, out of two Banyas pulled him a little, into turn three the two young chargers go looking at two lapped cars in front of them. Banyas stayed his prefered line while Blonde got outside for the pass. As the two came out of turn four side by side Blonde was able to get pass the charging Banyas to win his third feature of 2008 in one of the best features you would ever want to witness. Banyas was second with Boom coming home third, Beasley fourth, Underwood fifth, Shumaker sixth, Feeney seventh, Tyler eighth, Ryan Davis ninth, and Davey Brown rounding out the top ten.

The next race for the Super Sprints will be Friday June 27 at the M-40 Speedway and the next night(28th.) we travel to Marne to the Berlin Raceway.
