Owosso, MI (7/21/07) Jeff Bloom took the checkered flag Saturday night
at Owosso Speedway, scoring his 3rd Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super
Sprint feature win of the year. Jeff continues to lead the AVBBSS
points over Jason Blonde.
Blonde started out the night with his first Hamilton Trucking fast
qualifying award of the year with a 13.167 second lap around the 1/3
mile paved oval. Jimmy McCune took the win in the United Trailers heat
race followed by Blonde, Davey Brown, Chad Goff and Aaron Katz. The
Dowker Engines heat was won by Florida driver Shane Butler, who was
chased by Bloom, E.J. Calloway, Jeff Banyas and John Boy Hotchkiss. The
Logo Boys heat winner was Mike Ling, taking the win over Bill Tyler,
Troy Underwood, Brian Lay and Ike Beasley.
Blonde rolled a 6 for the invert, putting Beasley and Bloom on the
front row for the 30 lap feature. Beasley and McCune jumped to an early
lead before Bloom took over, leading the remainder of the race. Three
cautions slowed the race, with Beasley challenging Bloom on the
restarts, to no avail. On a yellow with 7 laps to go, Beasley had a
flat tire, sending him to the pits and giving 2nd spot to Goff. Bloom
pulled away on this, the final caution, and took the win over Goff,
Blonde (who dirt-tracked his way from 6th to 3rd on the last green flag
run), Butler, Lay, McCune, Tyler (up from 15th), Hotchkiss, Mike
Astrauskas and Banyas.
The next Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint race is Saturday,
July 28th at Cayuga Speedway in Nelles Corners, Ontario, Canada. There
are only 8 more races on our 2007 schedule, so make plans now to catch
the fastest short track cars in the world.
