The Dixie motor Speedway on Saturday Night 8/02/08 had a fantastic and enthusiastic crowd on hand to welcome the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Stars. The night was perfect for racing. Qualifying started out at 5 Pm for the 19 sprinters on hand to take their spot in feature order. Fast time went to Jeff Bloom in the (26) machine with a great run of 12.772. Ryan Litt in the (07L) held in second with a 12.881. The last of the top five qualifiers included Tyler Underwood (4) with a 13.002 and dangerously close to the 12 second mark, 4th was (3A) Mike Austrauskas with a nice spot at 13.039, and the last of the top 5 qualifiers was (88) Jimmy McCune 13.061.
The heat race events also proved exciting for fans. Dowker Engine heat race one winner Ike(99) the "Ice Man" Beasley traveled all 8 laps to the finish. He was followed by John-Boy Hotchkiss, Driver/Owner of the #75 machine and third went to (23) Scott O'Connor who his nephew calls Dixie Speedway his "Favorite Track". Logo Boys Sponsored heat race 2 pulled one caution and two lead changes making the (07L) of Litt the winner, followed by (37) "Hurring Hank" Lower with the second spot and third was claimed by (24) Bill Tyler. United Trailers sponsored heat race three went to (42) Blonde, (70) Craft and (07B) Banyas.
The 30 lap feature followed a fantastic showing of late models at Dixie Speedway where they held the 100 lap race, a yearly event. The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints with 19 Cars were pushed off and the #(23) Scott O'Connor brought the field to the green. Lap one Jason Blonde seized the lead for three laps and caution one came out for the safety cone in turn 4. With only one car in the pits (88) McCune ,the sprinters were under way again, with Blonde (42) holding the lead until lap 8. This is where the strong (98F) car of Kevin Feeney took over. Lap 12 posed a caution with (07B) of Jeff Banyas who went to the tail of the field. Two laps underway lap (14) more pulled the last caution of the night collecting (70) Craft and (20K) Flint on the backstretch on lap 14. With one more lap the sprints came to the 1/2 way mark , with the (98F) of Feeney still in business. (42) Blonde makes and takes the challenge to lead in lap 18. With only 12 laps remaining the top three(42), (98F), and (07L) are in thick pursuit of the winners circle. Also in top contention are the (26) of Bloom who started 10th with the invert draw and landed 4th. (23) O'Connor and (46) Swain also proved strong in the Dixie race. The race not over (07L) Litt captures the lead on lap 21 making the move on the backstretch and into turn 4 overtaking series points leader (42) Blonde. Litt grabs the winners circle by navigating slower traffic and lapping 3 cars. The top five finishers were (07L)Litt, (42) Blonde, (98f) Kevin Feeney, (26) Jeff Bloom and (23) Scott O'Connor. The super sprint feature at Dixie Speedway was one of the best races around. A Special thanks to all of the fans for supporting the "Fastest Short Track Show cars in the world".
