Birch Run, MI (8/3) Jason Blonde posed his 5th Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint feature win Friday night at Dixie Speedway after race leader Bill Tyler’s arm restraint got caught in his steering wheel coming off the last corner of the last lap. Bill had taken the lead from early pole sitter Troy Underwood, and looked to be the victor in the 30 lapper until that mishap caused him to spin in turn 4.

Jimmy McCune set his first Hamilton Trucking fast time of the season, while preliminary event wins went to Mike Ling in the United Trailers first followed by Brian Lay, Tyler, McCune and Johnny Scherer; the Dowker Engines second heat to Dave Baumgardner, chased by Ike Beasley, Curt Shumaker, Aaron Katz and Jeff Bloom;the Logo Boys heat #3 to Blonde followed by Chad Goff, Kevin Feeney, Underwood and Tim Ryan. Point leader Bloom took over the reins in car owned and normally driven by John Hotchkiss, after Jeff blew the engine in his own car in hot laps. Jeff & Linda would like to thank John for offering his ride so that Jeff wouldn’t fall out of contention in the point championship.

McCune rolled a 6 for the inversion, putting Underwood and Shumaker on the front row for the 30 lap main. Underwood jumped to the early lead before Tyler took over. Following Blonde to the checkers were McCune, Shumaker, Beasley, Baumgardner, Underwood, Lay, Ling, Feeney, Goff and Hank Lower.

The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints take a week off before returning to Kalamazoo Speedway on Aug. 18th. Our first show at Kalamazoo was rained out, so be sure to mark your calendars to see the fastest short track cars in the world!!
