Bloom wins again at Berlin.
- Published 06/28/2009
Curt Shumaker driving Jim Browns #55 sprinter started on the pole with Jim Swain on his outside shoulder. Bloom coming from the fifth starting spot, Kyle Flint from the sixth position, Jeff Banyas, Chad Goff, Jason Blonde, and fast qualifier, Derek Snyder( three out of the last four times at Berlin he has done this), took chase. Troy Underwood had some problems early on as did Bill Tyler and Snyder taking them out of the race. Shumaker held off the field until Bloom and Blonde got around him in traffic. Try as he may, Curt's tires started to fade but was holding on to third with Flint, Ryan Litt, Dorman Snyder, and Sondi Eden all working their way through the field. On lap twenty two with Bloom and Blonde changing leads no less than three times, reports say that something possibly let go on Shumakers car in turn three and he spun, with everything happening so fast Flint found himself gathered up in the accident. Litt" threaded the needle" and was able to get through, but unfortunately Blonde who was leading the race did not damaging the Dowker Engine special as to where he couldn't continue.Bloom took the lead to the wire with Goff right on his bumper followed by Banyas, Litt, Eden, Dorman Snyder, Swain Ryan Davis, Mike Astrauskas, and Teddy Albert's finishing out the top ten. This is Blooms third win in four shows at Berlin. Curt Shumaker was taken to the hospital with some reported foot pain after the turn three accident. A report will be forthcoming on his condition.
Heat winners were Bill Tyler in the Amsoil 1st in Synthetics, Tom and Jennifer Worth the distributors race, Ryan Litt won the Coldwave Snoware heat, and Sondi Eden taking the checker in the Oliver Racing parts heat.

A bright sunny sky met us at the track and the competitors were very excited to get out on the improved surface at Delaware (more for next year is the plan). Time trials took place with local favorite Ryan Litt from Lyons Ontario in the BS&B Radiator, OTC Tool, Huron Produce, Leaf Raceware,Linton Media, Extreme Metalworks Special setting a new record on the improved surface with a lap of 15.682 around the big half mile.
The All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Head first heat had six cars scheduled but Jim Swain broke a drive shaft in time trials and wasn't able to make the start. Litt coming from the five spot won over Mike Ling driving for Jim Brown in the JBM Leasing, Southwestern Truck Service, Big Box Storage sprinter coming in second, and Bill Tyler, driving the Hamilton Trucking, Montgomery Builder, Pollack Glass, Bingham Farms, Dowker Engine #24, third.
Kyle Flint the 2008 Rookie of the year, showed the veterans the quick way to victory lane in the Amsoil 1st in Synthetics Tom and Jennifer Worth distributors second heat. Chad Goff, Jason Blonde, Sondi Eden, and Troy Underwood followed him across the line.
A number nine was rolled on the dice to set the invert for the thirty lap feature. Jeff Banyon and Eden sat on the first row with nine more in the field of the fastest sprints in the world behind them. Sondi jumped out to a large lead in the Stickney Bros/ Carmen owned machine, over Banyas in the Victory Engine 07b with Underwood and Tyler following. Mike Ling from nearby Mt. Bridges, and Litt were busy working their way through the fast field. After some great nose to tail racing Ling finally got around Eden to take the lead on lap eighteen. After she was passed Eden then had her hands full with Litt now putting on the pressure. Ling was off and running to victory with Eden hanging on to second in her best run of the season and Litt slipping and sliding to third with something putting oil on his rear tires. Fourth was Banyas, Tyler fifth, Jason Blonde sixth, the Race Status. com car of Goff seventh, Flint ninth, Swain tenth, Jeff Bloom eleventh after breaking in the heat and wrenching hard to make the show, breaking again as the feature was lining up. The next stop for the sprints Toledo Speedway Friday June twelfth.

Qualifying started with the cars breaking into the ten second bracket getting closer to the record that Geoff Kaiser held at a 10.414 on the quarter mile. The record held until the bright red Classic Corvette sponsored sprint out of Tampa Florida driven by Dave Steele blistered the record with a lap of 10.344. Ryan Litt with the BS&B Radiator, OTC Tool, Huron Produce sponsored machine also beat the old record with a lap at 10.397 to set the top two qualifiers for the night. Seventeen of the twenty five cars broke into the 10 second bracket.
The first heat was a great race through the first nine laps then it got better. Troy Underwood led the first nine and three quarters laps but wiggled a little out of turn two and Aaron Pierce in the Sam Pierce Chevrolet sprinter got buy him coming out of turn four for the win. Underwood was second, Dave Steele, third, fourth was Tim Cox, and fifth,Eddy Kelly.
Second heat action showed the first lady of sprint cars, Sondi Eden in the Rairitan Railway, Impact Racing, Nine twelve car, showed the guys the short way around the track for the win. Seconded was Bill Tyler, third Chris Nuenschwander, fourth Kyle Flint, and the final feature spot secured by Ryan Litt.
The third heat looked more like a demolition derby for a few moments than a sprint car race, but the field for the Must See Racing.Com 60 welcomed five more drivers that were locked in through the heat. Jeff Bloom, Geoff Kaiser, Jeff Banyas, Greg Wheeler, and Tom Paterson moved on.
A B-main was set to settle the final five with Hank Lower, Jimmy McCune, Jason Blonde, Ron Koehler, Jason Bradford, and Chris Jagger moving on.
The Must See Racing. Com 60 started with 71 year old Hank Lower on the pole with 17 year old AVBBSS Rookie of the year Kyle Flint on the outside. Dave Steele rolled an eight for the invert. Lower led the field for forty seven green flag laps until a broken motor spread oil on the track bringing out the yellow. Pierce, Litt, Steele, Tyler, Bloom, and Flint all raced for the lead until Pierce cut down a left rear causing havoc in turn four. This left Lower, Litt, and Steele racing for the top spot. Litt tried every way possible but admitted he had nothing more to give in the battle to catch Lower. Ryan settled for second, Steele third, Bloom came from the eleven spot to finish fourth. Kyle Flint finished fifth, Tyler was sixth, Cox seventh, McCune eighth, Edon ninth, Pierce tenth. This was the first career feature win at Anderson for Lower who is rumored to be talking retirement at the end of the season.

The” best of the best” in winged outlaw pavement sprint car racing gathered at the famous Salem Speedway Saturday night to open the 2009 racing season. This inaugural event was the first of three races that are being taped for later television programming. Must See Racing.Com is the driving force behind this joint venture of the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Supersprints and the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series. Twenty five sprinters showed up for the event to strut their stuff in front of an excellent crowd to watch the worlds fastest short track cars.
Ryan Lit set fast time of the night with a blistering lap of 14.52 seconds, just 2 tenths off the track record of Kevin Feeney set back 2006.
Defending A.V.B.B.S.S. champion Jason Blonde was victorious in the first heat in front of Ryan Lit, Jason Cox, Jim Swain, Ron Koehler, Bill Tyler, and Ryan Myers.
Former champion of both series, Tim Cox driving the Swanson Engine number 7 this year won the second heat followed by, Blaze Martin coming up from Tampa Florida, Aaron Pierce, Jeff Bloom, Troy Underwood, Teddy Alberts, Hank Lower, and Tom Paterson.

Following Chad were, Jimmy McCune, Derek Snyder, Kyle Flint, Greg Wheeler, Jerry Caryer, Tom Geren, and Jeffery Banyas with motor problems bringing up the rear.
With fifteen cars in the feature, five more had to race their way in through a B- Main. Eight started the race with Hank Lower, Ryan Myers, Jerry Caryer, Jeff Banyas, and Tom Paterson making it in.
Fast qualifier Ryan Lit rolled a ten to set the invert for the Must See Racing. Com thirty lap feature. Young Jason Cox started on the pole with Chad Goff on the outside. Chad jumped out to the lead after we had a red flag stop on the racing surface because of an electrical problem that darkened the middle of 1-2 turn on the high banked track. He was on a rail as the racing was going on directly behind him with Lower, McCune,Litt, Bloom, Cox, Swain, Snyder, and Blonde all trying to catch him but to no avail. Chad won the race with Ryan Lit coming from the tenth spot to finish second, and Seventy one year old Hank Lower, showing he can still wheel a sprinter to a third place finish.
