About Super Sprints

The Auto Value Super Sprint series started in the fall of 1996. In the early days of the series the drivers following the AVSS had to be “diverse” enough to run both dirt and pavement with the same racecar. As the new series grew it became apparent that the series needed to go one way or the other, pavement racing was adopted, and THE WORLDS FASTEST SHORT TRACK CARS were born.

The first few years we ran 15-17 events and traveled a little.  Now 12 years later we are planning on running as many as 25 events in the Midwest and in Canada.  Over the last 5 years we have raced at 27 different tracks in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ontario.  Also some of the superstars of the series have been traveling to South Africa to promote USA Sprint car racing.

Since 2001 we have averaged 25.7 cars at each event.  Over the last several years the drivers in this series have set and hold track records at 22 of the tracks we have visited.  Last year, out of 20 events, we had scheduled, we had 5 rainouts, leaving 15 races run with 7 different winners with a very tight points race all season long.

In the fall of 2006 Tom Hartsell Jr. and his wife, Helen, took over the operation of the series and renamed it, “The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Series.”  We are retaining almost everyone from last year’s team to continue giving the sponsors, promoters, and the fans the best show on pavement.

Thank You,
Tom Hartsell Jr.
